Bring on the summer slip 'n' slide! When I was a kid we used an old tarp, some liquid dish soap and a sprinkler for a homemade slip and slide and we had so much fun . . .I guess I won't count the times when one of us hit a stray rock that someone (Shae . . .wink wink!) forgot to clear out from under the tarp, Ouch! So Avonleah got her first taste of this summer tradition this past week when her little friend got one for his birthday! I realized it is awful hard to explain rather than show a four year old the mechanics of executing a really great slip 'n' slide run, imagine trying to explain that you get back and run really fast then at just the right moment you land on your bum or tummy and slide . . .it's rather hard to do that without doing a lot of motions that look foolish and having your preschooler look a little confused. Seriously mom, you want me to face plant on that plastic wet thing and it's going to be fun somehow? . . .so it took a couple spills and thrills before she got it down good but she had so much fun that she did the royal pout (she is going to be able to manipulate some man really good someday with that pout of hers) when it was time to go home!

There is a bit by Dane Cook I think he calls it the "Slip and Bleed", due to those forgotten rocks and debris under the tarp or plastic its quite amusing.
And you can't even tell that it was only sixty something degrees outside huh! That was a fun afternoon, we'll have to do it again when it's a little warmer...with popsicles and hot dogs. :)
