In the spirit of being frugal we participated in a free gingerbread making afternoon at our local library! The girls definitely ate more than they put on their gingerbread houses but they had so much fun. The best part was watching their personalities come out in the decorating themes. Avonleah's was very experimental and fun and Adelaide's was exact with definite patterns and specific details! I love these delightful little girls!
It got super cold outside so we brought the tricycle inside and boy oh boy did Adelaide and Abigail have a blast. . .not sure how the hardwood floors will survive but they had a lot of fun!!
We had to brave the stores a little bit but when we did I let the girls ride in the "car cart", and yes I still hate those ginormous carts because seriously I cannot turn them and end up running into everything. . . "clean up on aisle ten, clean up on aisle ten please!"
We found some clip on earrings in the dress up bin and Abigail loved loved loved them and was super sad when she had to share with Adelaide! Of course when we asked Adelaide if she wanted to get her ears pierced for real she said, "ummm no way, but could you get me some of these clipper earrings!"
Scott got to be home for 10 days with us, it was so much fun to have him around every day. We took a big homeschool break and spent every minute we could just making great memories together. What a blessing it is to be together for the holidays, to have a job, to have a nice little house and to have the ability to not only have what we need but some of what we want too. Scott is an amazing provider and I am so blessed to have him as the head of our household.
We tried some new foods. . .some didn't pass the "Adelaide approval test" but it was fun to try new things.
"Look Ma, no hand!" Abigail got to show off all the time to a very captivated audience. . .her sisters (and parents) think she is pretty darn amazing!
We did a lot of Christmas and Nativity themed crafts and had some cooking lessons. We were even lucky enough to get a "twinner egg" as Avonleah called it! We cracked the egg to make Scott's favorite "fog cookies" and ta da double yoke! Of course after calling it a "twinner egg" Avonleah's literal side kicked in and she said, "if that had been a fertilized egg it would have been twins, right mom?"
Scott starred in our ward's Christmas Program as Charlie Brown. They picked him because they saw his shiny bald head but were pleasantly surprised to find out he had quite the skills on the stage! You're a Good Man Charlie Brown!
We added some fun decorations to really make our house look fun and we left the lights on as much as possible just to enjoy them. It was so much fun to have candlelight devotional by the light of the tree, and to sing songs around the piano with just the Christmas lights and the fireplace. It was a really delightful special time of year to talk to our kids about the "feeling" in our home and the "why" of that feelings. Testimonies of the Savior definitely grew this season.
With school out and so much extra time to play the girls had so much fun playing with each others. Okay sometimes there were some serious screaming/fighting matches but honestly not very often this year. I am so proud of my girls that are working on becoming great friends. Plus they dote on their baby sister and we love to watch her love them. Whenever they are sitting on the ground she backs up to them and sits between their legs with a book or her doll and demands their attention and when they try to get up or move she does this little fake cry that is hilarious. They always go "oooohhh mom she doesn't want us to leave!" I love it!
Christmas caroling, yummy snacks, Polar Express drives, crafts, decorations, candlelight devotionals, secret service, non stop Christmas music, Christmas movies, and no school . . .this was an amazing Christmas Season!!!
