Mummies, Landforms, and Phonics

 

Not only are we surviving homeschool, but 5 months in, we are actually thriving and loving (okay most days) learning together.  In History we finished our studies of Ancient Egypt and the dispensations of Abraham and Moses this week so we made sure to watch and read tons of cool things about mummies and pyramids and figured out where and how Moses and Abraham and Joseph and his coat of many colors fit into the timeline of things.   We used a bit (maybe two rolls *gulp*)of our toilet paper supply to learn how to wrap up a body in case we ever decide to mummify anyone *smirk*.  The girls were so ecstatically proud of me for letting them use playdoh during Geography to model all kinds landforms in our lithosphere,  because well y'all know how I feel about that devil playdoh.    Avonleah said, "like we REALLY get to use REAL playdoh during school and it's not art class?!"  Yes, Avonleah, I am not the wicked stepmother you imagine me to be all the time *facepalm* And a big shout out to Adelaide who is not only becoming a super reader but is learning how to spell words and wrote her first sentence on the whiteboard last week. . .for those of you wondering it says, "the lonely cat purred!"  We are having lots of fun and anticipating a little more relaxed schedule for summer with a few more enrichment days for swimming and trips to the beach and trips to Grandma's for the reunion but I think we'll be continuing year round with home school. . .the girls are really loving exploring so many new and exciting things.
